About Royal College of Surgeons Ireland

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) is a unique institution — a surgical royal college that is also a full university, focused exclusively on health sciences education. RCSI is ranked among the world's top 250 universities and Ireland's first for 'Good Health and Wellbeing' impact. Its five-year medical programme (MB BCh BAO) is one of the most international in Europe, with students from over 60 countries creating an exceptionally diverse cohort.

Clinical training takes place at Beaumont Hospital (a 820-bed teaching hospital and Ireland's neurosurgery and renal transplant centre), Connolly Hospital, and RCSI Hospitals Group facilities. RCSI's surgical heritage infuses the programme with strong procedural skills training and anatomy teaching in the purpose-built 26 York Street campus. The college has campuses in Bahrain, Malaysia, and Dubai, offering unique international elective networks.

For UK students, RCSI offers a medical degree with direct GMC recognition, Ireland's most international student body, direct entry from A-Levels, central Dublin location, and strong alumni networks in London teaching hospitals. The MB BCh BAO from RCSI carries significant prestige, particularly in surgical specialties.
